Reggae singer Andy Livingston recently recorded a cover version of "I'm Born Again", originally done by the Afro-Caribbean-German vocal group Boney M. in 1979.
"Boney M. is one of those great international vocal groups that I grew up listening to in the late-70s. They had a very unique sound because they experimented with various genres including reggae, disco, and R&B. Given the fact that "I'm Born Again" has always been one of my favourite Boney M. songs I decided to do a cover of it as a tribute to the group," he said.
The latest version of "I'm Born Again" was co-produced by the artiste and Herbie Harris. It was released on October 16.
Since then the song has been receiving strong rotation on the airwaves, both locally and abroad.
"The reception to this single has been very positive. It's getting a lot of support from deejays in various parts of the world. I believe it has the potential to do great things. My team and I are putting a lot of promotion behind it," said Livingston.
I'm Born Again is one of the featured tracks on his EP titled Rebirth which is scheduled to be released on November 3.
The launch party for Rebirth is also scheduled for November 3 at Rebel T's HQ in Kingston as a precursor to the popular weekly 'Original Dancehall Thursdays' event.

The electronic version of the Jamaica Observer newspaper published updated statistics on the sales of Boney M.'s single "Rasputin", which again became a super hit 43 years after the first publication:
"Last year, British DJ and producer Majestic dusted off the old Boney M hit ‘Rasputin’ from 1978 and turned it into a hit all over again.
‘Rasputin’, billed as Majestic x Boney M, gained a new following after its resurgence on TikTok and charted on several pop charts worldwide including in Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia, Romania, Norway, Netherlands, Lithuania, Hungary, Canada, Belgium and Austria.
In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 11, number one in Poland and number 10 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. This was the song’s first time ever charting in the US.
‘Rasputin’ was certified platinum for sales exceeding 600,000 units in the United Kingdom. The certification was issued on September 30 by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
‘Rasputin’ was first released on 28 August 1978 as the second single from Boney M’s third studio album Nightflight to Venus. Written by the group's creator Frank Farian, along with George Reyam and Fred Jay, it is a song about Grigori Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his family during the early 20th century. The song describes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator.
In 1978, the original version of ‘Rasputin’ peaked at number two in the UK, number one in Australia, Austria and Germany, and made the top ten in Argentina, Canada, Ireland, Norway, Netherlands and Switzerland.
It was certified platinum in Australia and Canada and gold in Netherlands and the UK back then.
Last year’s remixed version of ‘Rasputin’ has so far been certified platinum in Australia, Italy and Switzerland, and gold in Belgium and Poland.
Boney M consisted of Jamaicans Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell from Aruba.
The group’s other hits include ‘By the Rivers of Babylon’, ‘Mary’s Boy Child’, ‘Ma Baker’ (later sampled by Lady Gaga in Bad Romance), ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’ and ‘Daddy Cool’."

On the UK National Compilation Albums Chart, it reached N1 and has been in the Top 10 for 3 weeks now. The 3CD compilation contains two Boney M.'s hits - "Gotta Go Home" and "Painter Man".
The collection is available both on physical media and as digital files. November 4 is expected to release a special gift box with vinyl discs.
