At the beginning of May 2024, almost six months after the noisy premieres in Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt, the musical blockbuster "Girl, You Know It's True", based on the biography of Frank Farian's most sensational project, will be available in Europe on physical media. German stores selling video content announced a release for May 3. The film will initially be released in DVD and Blu-ray formats. It is not yet known whether it will be published on ultra-high definition discs (Ultra HD/4K), which provide the best image quality.
A little earlier it became known that the film received several nominations for the German equivalent of the Oscar (LOLA Awards), but not in the most important positions. Film critics note that the work of director Simon Verhoeven has two main drawbacks: a rather superficial study of the fate of the main characters (this would require much longer timing) and a look at the events that took place 35 years ago through the prism of a left-liberal narrative, which begins to irritate the public even in the most tolerant the BLM movement in countries. At the same time, the strengths of the film are entertainment, not inferior to Hollywood production, as well as the presence of an original soundtrack, which was used thanks to the participation of the late creator of the pop duo MILLI VANILLI Frank Farian as a co-producer of the biopic. All this contributed to recreating on the screen the unique era of the crazy 80s of the last century, when MTV ruled the world. Due to the above-mentioned shortcomings, the American company Voltage Pictures, which has the rights to distribute the film outside of Germany, is in no hurry to release the biggest story about the “phonogram scandal” on the big screen in North America. Perhaps they are trying to agree on a new edition of the biopic, or they are planning to immediately send it for rental on streaming services. But, most likely, this will happen only after the end of the run of "Girl You Know It's True" in European cinemas.

The noisy premiere of the MILLI VANILLI biopic "Girl You Know It's True" at the legendary Berlin cinema Zoo Palast with the participation of many famous people from Germany (and not only) took place on December 5th, and a little earlier in Munich. The growing European media holding LEONINE Studios did not skimp on advertising support for its main film production of 2023.
Even the former member of the scandalous pop duo, Fab Morvan, arrived at the premiere, who had previously stated that he allegedly did not want to participate in the project where Frank Farian was involved. However, when it was explained to Morvan that the film would be highly complimentary to him and his late “life brother” Rob Pilatus, the ex-dancer changed his mind. It is also possible that Morvan received a good fee for participating in the promotion of the new film.
The predominance of the ever-fashionable dark tones of suits, decorated with jewelry, dazzled the eyes. This was especially noticeable when the flashbulbs focused on the next star heading into the cinema lobby. Among the latter, however, there were exceptions who preferred almost complete nudity (and this was in December!). The German tabloid press actively discussed the provocatively erotic “dresses” of some celebrities, although it would be better if the correspondents devoted themselves to writing objective reviews of the film. Alas, this has not happened yet.
Apparently, the conflict between the main part of the MILLI VANILLI studio team and the frontman, who performed to the soundtrack, has not been overcome, despite the passage of 33 years since the end of the pop duo’s activities. In any case, the paparazzi’s attention was not focused on representatives of the FAR Music studio team. The press release from LEONINE Studios, however, mentions that the premiere was attended by Frank Farian's eldest daughter, Nicole Reuther, as well as the half-sister of the late Robert Pilatus and the daughter of singer John Davis, who died a couple of years ago from COVID-19, who was “the voice of Fab Morvan".
The main attention of the German media is now focused exclusively on the “guiltless” Fab, whom the German-Austrian director (and also the author of the script for “Girl You Know It’s True”) Simon Verhoeven drags with him to various TV channels and high-society events. It's obvious which side his sympathies are on.
It is not clear whether Simon, 51, knows how many vile acts Fab Morvan has committed against Frank Farian and the employees of his production company. Does Mr. Verhoeven know that Fab did not hesitate to curse his former employer with obscene words in the scandalous Dutch TV show “Jenssen!”? We have this video, but today it is almost impossible to publish this on YouTube unless you want to receive a warning about the use of obscene language or a ban.
We should also remind our readers that it was Farian and his assistant Ingrid Segieth who, at one time, pulled Robert Pilatus out of an American prison and paid for his treatment for drug addiction, although this ultimately did not give the desired result. But Fabrice Morvan, having once discovered Robert Pilatus in an almost insane state on one of the streets of Los Angeles, did not find anything better than to bring his “brother” to the drug den where he lived, and chose to forget about him. But after Rob’s death in 1998, when the world’s media once again began to savor “the biggest pop scandal in history,” he began to present himself and Rob as “innocent victims” of exploitation by “a ruthless show business machine ruled by white-skinned racists.” And this leftist information hurdy-gurdy is still playing in one variation or another. На премьеру прибыл даже бывший участник скандального поп-дуэта Фаб Морван, который ранее заявлял, что якобы не хочет участвовать в проекте, где задействован Фрэнк Фариан. Однако, когда Морвану объяснили, что фильм будет весьма комплиментарным по отношению к нему и его ныне покойному "брату по жизни" Робу Пилатусу, экс-танцор изменил своё мнение. Также не исключено, что Морван получил хороший гонорар за участие в промоушене новой киноленты.
От преобладания вечно модных тёмных тонов костюмов, украшенных бижутерией, рябило в глазах. Немецкая бульварная пресса активно обсуждала вызывающе эротичные "платья" некоторых селебретис, хотя лучше бы корреспонденты посвятили себя написанию объективных рецензий на фильм. Увы, пока этого не произошло.
Судя по всему, конфликт между основной частью студийной команды MILLI VANILLI и фронтменом, выступавшим под фонограмму, не преодолён, несмотря на прошедшие 33 года с момента прекращения деятельности поп-дуэта. Во всяком случае, на представителях студийной команды FAR Music и реальных вокалистах группы внимание папарацци не концентрировалось. А вот Фабрис Морван, обнаружив однажды Роберта Пилатуса в почти невменяемом состоянии на одной из улиц Лос-Анджелеса, не нашёл ничего лучшего, как довести своего "брата" до наркопритона, в котором тот проживал, и предпочёл забыть о нём, не оказав никакой реальной помощи. Зато после смерти Роба в 1998-м году, когда мировые СМИ вновь принялись смаковать "самый громкий поп-скандал в истории", он стал преподносить себя и Роба как "невинных жертв" эксплуатации "безжалостной машиной шоу-бизнеса, где правят белокожие расисты". И эта левацкая информационная шарманка в той ли иной вариации играет до сих пор. We were going to write a review of both films (documentary and feature) after the release of the biopic "Girl You Know It's True" (its premiere in German-speaking countries will take place on December 21). However, it is already obvious that the “documentary” film and the upcoming biopic about the pop duo MILLI VANILLI have little in common with reality. Therefore, it hardly makes sense to wait so long and now we can share with readers some impressions of what we saw.
Unfortunately, once again we have to admit that the so-called “progressive” cinema has finally subordinated itself to the canons of the world leftist movement and is confidently going to the bottom. Young directors, speculating on the extremely anti-racist message of BLM and the ideas of the radical feminist #MeToo movement, know very well that this is the most likely path to success. In any case, a moment of fame is practically guaranteed for them. Such people, of course, are not embarrassed by mass pogroms and looting of stores under loud BLM slogans or unsubstantiated attacks by hysterics on famous people with accusations of “sexual harassment.”
After watching the “documentary biopic” MILLI VANILLI, which was recently released on the Paramount+ video streaming platform, the editors of the FFFclub information blog were very disappointed. As we predicted, director Luke Korem, who was 7 years old at the time of the pop duo’s triumph, followed the path described above in his “search for the truth.” To put it briefly, Korem used a recipe for making a “successful socially approved fake movie” that sells well in the United States and Western Europe: a white exploitative producer who profits from the labor of “innocent” black dancers. The authors' entire attention is focused on accusing the "inhuman pop industry", where white-skinned monsters like Clive Davis and Frank Farian rule the roost. For Korem and his accomplices, the world is divided only into black and white, any halftones are excluded. There is no attempt to understand the actions of the producer of the pop duo, who was obliged to bring money to his distribution company HANSA/BMG and was also, to a certain extent, a hostage to the current situation. The only thing that can be considered a plus of this “documentary” film history is the awareness of the fact that MILLI VANILLI’s path to the pinnacle of success (Grammy award) was a series of random circumstances that develop probably once in a century or even a millennium.
At the same time, not a word was said about the fact that it was the “exploiter” Farian who rescued Robert Pilatus, who had embarked on a criminal path, from an American prison by paying a very impressive bail. Also, not a word is said that, having responded to Pilatus’ requests, the producer paid for his treatment in rehab and prepared for his return to the stage with the album “Back and in Attack”. And even more so, it is not said that this “phonogram scandal” cost Farian no less than $3,500,000, which was spent on lawyers, paying fines and allocating $400,000 for charitable purposes. And this is not counting the enormous stress, which did not have the best effect on health. But it was noted with particular gloating that “Farian refused to be interviewed” for the film. However, it would be strange to expect a different decision from the 81-year-old (at the time of filming) producer, who had recently undergone heart surgery and was unlikely to be eager to subject himself to another interrogation from a director who does not hide his hatred “for white bloodsuckers from show business.” Instead of an objective study of the history of the MILLI VANILLI project, in this “documentary” film we hear only the angry howls of haters, repeating that “It didn’t cost Farian anything and he stayed on the sidelines.” Unprecedented lies and hypocrisy.
We do not claim that Farian is an angel and he has never had conflicts with his artists and musicians. But this is a creative environment where conflicts are inevitable and we do not know examples of ideal “conflict-free” careers for superstars. This is a common phenomenon in show business, but for some reason it is Farian who has received special attention from critics and various amateur video bloggers. Maybe this is just ordinary human envy?
Unfortunately, the story of MILLI VANILLI will be described in a similar way in the upcoming biopic "Girl You Know It's True", where director Simon Verhoeven also rides the leftist agenda of "bad whites vs good blacks". The very fact of how carefully and lovingly the director selected candidates for the roles of Rob and Fab and how carelessly he treated the image of Farian, who is portrayed by the German “darling of fate” Matthias Schweighöfer, speaks volumes. The producer, in Schweighöfer's interpretation, looks like some kind of hysterical, semi-caricatured character who has nothing in common with the real Franz Reuther (real Farian's name). Employees of FAR Music, who worked with Farian at different times, have already noted in their Facebook blogs that watching the film’s teaser unpleasantly struck them. They all point out that Schweighöfer's character was never the same as he was portrayed in the biopic.
Well, as a “cherry on the cake”, the latest news about the failed American biopic about MILLI VANILLI. The irony of fate: the famous American director and film producer Brett Ratner, who bought all the rights to the history of the pop duo from ex-dancer Fabrice Morvan, and also views the scandal through the distorting mirror of BLM, suffered from the “extreme tolerance” of activists of the #MeToo movement. A month ago, the world's media reported that Ratner had fled to Israel to escape persecution from annoying feminists. Over the past few years, they have literally terrorized the director with accusations of “sexual harassment” and have vowed to completely suppress any of his activities in Hollywood. Молодые режиссёры, спекулируя на экстремально антирасистской повестке BLM и идеях радикально-феминистского движения #MeToo, прекрасно знают, что это наиболее вероятный путь к успеху. Во всяком случае, минута славы для них практически гарантирована. Таких людей, разумеется, не смущают массовые погромы и грабежи магазинов под громкими лозунгами BLM или бездоказательные нападки истеричек на известных персон с обвинениями в "сексуальных домогательствах".
После просмотра "документального байопика" MILLI VANILLI, вышедшего недавно на стриминговой видеоплатформе Paramount+, редакторы информационного блога FFFclub испытали большое разочарование. Как мы и предвидели, режиссёр Люк Корем, которому во времена триумфа поп-дуэта было 7 лет, пошёл в своих "исканиях правды" именно по описанному выше пути. Если излагать коротко, то Корем применил хорошо продающийся в США и Западной Европе рецепт изготовления "успешной социально одобряемой киноподелки": белый продюсер-эксплуататор, который наживается на труде "невинных" темнокожих танцоров. Всё внимание авторов сосредоточено на обвинении "бесчеловечной поп-индустрии", где правят бал белокожие монстры типа Клайва Дэвиса и Фрэнка Фариана. Для Корема и его подельников мир поделён только на чёрное и белое, любые полутона исключены. Никаких попыток понять действия продюсера поп-дуэта, который был обязан приносить деньги своей компании-дистрибютеру HANSA/BMG и также являлся, в определённой степени, заложником сложившейся ситуации. Единственное, что можно считать плюсом этой "документальной" киноистории, так это осознание того факта, что путь MILLI VANILLI к вершине успеха (награда Grammy) являлся чередой случайных обстоятельств, которые складываются, наверное, раз в столетие или даже тысячелетие.
В то же время ни слова не было сказано о том, что именно "эксплуататор" Фариан вызволил вставшего на преступный путь Роберта Пилатуса из американской тюрьмы, заплатив весьма внушительный залог. Также ни слова не сказано, что откликнувшись на просьбы Пилатуса, продюсер оплатил его лечение в рехабе и готовил к возвращению на сцену с альбомом "Back and in Attack". И уж тем более не сказано, что Фариану этот "фонограммный скандал" обошёлся не менее чем в $3.500.000, которые были потрачены на адвокатов, оплату штрафов и выделение $400.000 на благотворительные цели. И это не считая огромного стресса, который не лучшим образом сказался на здоровье. Зато с особым злорадством было отмечено, что "Фариан отказался от интервью" для фильма. Впрочем, странно было бы ожидать иного решения от 81-летнего (на момент съёмок) продюсера, который недавно перенёс операцию на сердце и вряд ли горел желанием подвергать себя очередному допросу от режиссёра, не скрывающего своей ненависти "к белым кровопийцам от шоу-бизнеса". Вместо объективного исследования истории проекта MILLI VANILLI мы лишь слышим в этом кинопасквиле злобные завывания хейтеров, твердящих о том, что "Фариану это не стоило ничего и он остался в стороне". Беспрецедентная ложь и лицемерие.
Мы не утверждаем, что Фариан является ангелом и у него никогда не было конфликтов со своими артистами и музыкантами. Но это творческая среда, где конфликты неизбежны и мы не знаем примеров идеальных "бесконфликтных" карьер у суперзвёзд. Это обычное явление для шоу-бизнеса, но почему-то именно на Фариане сконцентрировано особое внимание критиков и разного рода дилетантов-видеоблогеров. Может быть это просто обычная человеческая зависть?
К большому сожалению, аналогичным образом история MILLI VANILLI будет описана и в грядущем байопике "Girl You Know It's True", где режиссёр Саймон Верховен также оседлал левацкую повестку "плохие белые vs хорошие чёрные". Уже факт того, с какой тщательностью и любовью режиссёр подбирал кандидатуры на роль Роба и Фаба и как небрежно он отнёсся к образу Фариана, которого изображает немецкий "баловень судьбы" Маттиас Швайгхёфер, говорит о многом. Продюсер в интерпретации Швайгхёфера выглядит каким-то истеричным полукарикатурным персонажем, не имеющим ничего общего с реальным Францем Ройтером (настоящее имя Фариана). Сотрудники компании FAR Music, которые в разное время работали с Фарианом, уже отметили в своих блогах на Facebook, что просмотр тизера фильма неприятно их поразил. Все они отмечают, что персонаж Швайгхёфера никогда не был таким, каким его изобразили в байопике.
Ну и в качестве "вишенки на торте" последние новости о несостоявшемся американском байопике о MILLI VANILLI. Ирония судьбы: известный американский режиссёр и кинопродюсер Брэтт Ратнер, выкупивший все права на историю поп-дуэта у экс-танцора Фабриса Морвана, и также рассматривающий скандал через кривое зеркало BLM, пострадал от "экстремальной толерантности" активисток движения #MeToo. Месяц назад мировые СМИ облетела новость, что Ратнер бежал в Израиль, спасаясь от преследований со стороны назойливых феминисток. В течение последних нескольких лет они буквально терроризировали режиссёра обвинениями в "сексуальных домогательствах" и поклялись полностью пресечь любую его деятельность в Голливуде. Gemeinsam mit Musikproduzent Frank Farian wurden sie zu gefeierten Weltstars. Lediglich ein kleiner Kreis Eingeweihter weiß, dass das Duo nicht selbst singt. Als die Wahrheit ans Licht kommt, blicken Fab und Rob in einen bodenlosen Abgrund und die Welt auf den vielleicht größten Skandal der Musikgeschichte. In den Hauptrollen sind Tijan Njie als Robert Pilatus und Elan Ben Ali als Fabrice Morvan und Matthias Schweighöfer als Frank Farian zu sehen.
