Boney M. - New York City (new video premiere)

The 40th anniversary of the Boney M. project at FFFclub decided to celebrate not only the publication of various news and video materials related to this date, but also the premiere of their own clips, which expand the idea of the band's musical heritage.

"New York City" is one of the first works by Boney M., which was released as a B-side on the 1976 single "Sunny". And if in the latter case, many different videos were filmed during the group's television performances, then "New York City" seemed to remain only an audio rarity. However, a small fragment of this composition was used in the 1986 anniversary megamix, one version of which was filmed for the TV special "10 Years Boney M." Unfortunately, to date this has not been published on DVD and only goes around among the fans who managed to record this show on videotapes in the same 1986. Of course, the quality of such amateur materials leaves much to be desired. Therefore, in the new version of FFFclub, we have used the original 1986 video to a minimal extent, giving viewers the opportunity to admire the views of modern New York to the ever-relevant melody of Boney M.

Recall that the composition "New York City" was first released on CD as a bonus track to the band's remastered series of albums in 2007. In 2008, she was included in the gift box "The Complete Boney M." (8CD+DVD), as well as the 3CD edition of "The Collection" (2008) and the 5CD box "Original Album Classics" (2011).

Boney M. - New York City

В 2008 году она вошла в подарочную коробку "The Complete Boney M." (8CD+DVD), а также в 3CD-издание "The Collection" (2008) и 5CD-коробку "Original Album Classics" (2011).

Boney M. "My Friend Jack" (new video premiere)

Today in our blog the premiere of the updated video* "My Friend Jack" by Boney M. It was produced by members of FFFclub based on archival footage of Frank Faran's band performing on the N1 British TV music show TOP OF THE POPS (1980).At that time, the artists were promoting the single of the same name and the first compilation album released some time later, "The Magic Of Boney M. 20 Golden Hits", which included all the major hits of the Caribbean Four, as well as several single tracks, including "My Friend Jack" (cover version of the famous composition of the British band The Smoke, first performed in 1967). Boney M.'s remake hit the TOP5 in a number of countries, and their compilation "The Magic Of" reached N1 in the UK chart and sold millions of copies worldwide.

In addition to the common regular version of "My Friend Jack", the song was also released in a maxi version on a large vinyl "forty-five" with improved sound quality (the legendary "Super Sound" series from the German label HANSA). It wasn't until 2008 that the maxi version became available digitally for the first time, when MCI/Sony BMG released the 3CD compilation "The Collection" and a special edition of "ULTIMATE Boney M.", containing the band's rare tracks.

В то время группа занималась промотированием одноимённого сингла и вышедшего спустя некоторое время первого компиляционного альбома "The Magic Of Boney M. 20 Golden Hits", в который вошли все главные хиты коллектива, а также несколько сингл-трэков, включая и "My Friend Jack" (кавер известной композиции британской группы The Smoke, впервые исполненной в 1967 году).
