MILLI VANILLI's story will be filmed in the USA and Europe. Whose version will be more truthful?

On October 4, the Internet portal IMDbPro, which publishes background information on past and future releases of the global film industry, posted a banner announcing a "comedy drama" about the history of the pop duo MILLI VANILLI. In a short accompanying text, it is announced that the director of this biopic will be Brett Ratner, who is known to fans of Hollywood products for his work on many famous blockbusters ("Rush Hour" and its successful sequels, "The Family Man", "Red Dragon", "After the Sunset", "X-Men: The Last Stand", "Tower Heist", "Hercules" and many more).
The announcement of the upcoming film about MILLI VANILLI, which has not yet received a title, is presented on IMDbPro as follows: "The story of one producer and two lip-syncing male models who would sell millions of records and win a Grammy before their scam was revealed."
Initially, Ratner wanted to bring this loudest pop scandal of the 20th century to the cinema screens back in 2007, in collaboration with Hollywood celebrity producer Kathleen Kennedy and Universal Pictures. The script was written by the equally famous Jeff Nathanson ("Speed 2", "Twister", "Catch Me If You Can" and others). However, a number of unfavorable factors, as well as the scandal surrounding the alleged sexual harassment by Brett Ratner against the actresses who worked with him, interrupted the work on the film for a long time. After breaking up with Universal and Warner Bros., the director still found partners to fund a biopic about MILLI VANILLI. In several interviews, Ratner admitted that the adaptation MILLI VANILLI's story "was a dream of all hes life", since the director has always been attracted by the fate of outstanding crooks.
However, connoisseurs of popular music from the very beginning expressed doubts that the film would become an objective reflection of the history of the pop duo, which was born thanks to the genius German producer Frank Farian. As the media found out, pseudo-singer Fab Morvan and his "voiceover" John Davis, who died in May of this year after being infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus, took part in the development of the script. The authors of the American version of the "comedy drama" did not hide the fact that they wanted to tell this story "from the point of view of young dancers hired to shoot video clips and concert performances." As far as is known, Frank Farian did not agree with this  interpretation of events, because it will be a "half-truth", where the producer and the recording industry will almost certainly be portrayed as merciless monsters, while the fake "singers" will appear as innocent victims of greedy businessmen. In fact, everything was much more complicated, so music critics, fans of the pop duo, historians and journalists trying to restore the entire chronology of events will be breaking spears around this story for a long time.
Probably, given this factor, Frank Farian agreed to create a documentary television series about his creative career, which is currently being produced in Europe. It is expected that one of the parts of the film will be devoted to the history of MILLI VANILLI and the role of the main participants in the project in its resounding success and sensational fall from the musical Olympus.
At the same time, a certain group of left-wing documentary filmmakers from the United States also decided to release their film about this story, and they want to view it from the position of "irreconcilable fighters against racism" and apologists for the BLM movement, which a priori raises many questions regarding the objectivity (and adequacy) of the authors.
Well, as they say, we just have to stock up on popcorn and wait for a series of sensational and scandalous movie premieres...

В коротком сопроводительном тексте сообщается, что режиссёром этого байопика станет Брэтт Ратнер, который известен поклонникам голливудской продукции по работе над многими знаменитыми блокбастерами («Час пик» и его успешные сиквелы, «Семьянин», «Красный дракон», «После заката», «Люди Икс: Последняя битва», «Ограбление башни», «Геркулес» и многие другие).

Анонс будущего фильма о MILLI VANILLI, который ещё не получил названия, на IMDbPro представлен так: "История одного продюсера и двух выступающих под фонограмму мужчин-моделей, которые продали миллионы дисков и завоевали Grammy, прежде чем их аферы были раскрыты."

После разрыва отношений с Universal и Warnwer Bros. режиссёр всё-таки нашёл партнёров для финансирования байопика о MILLI VANILLI. В нескольких интервью Ратнер признавался, что экранизация истории MILLI VANILLI "была мечтой всей его жизни", так как режиссёра всегда привлекали судьбы выдающихся мошенников.

Однако знатоки популярной музыки с самого начала высказывали сомнения, что фильм станет объективным отражением истории поп-дуэта, который появился на свет благодаря гениальному немецкому продюсеру Фрэнку Фариану.
