An exclusive presentation of the first trailer for the musical biopic about the scandalous project of Frank Farian took place on the website of the tabloid Bild. The long-awaited film "Girl You Know It's True", which created a lot of buzz at the last Berlin Film Market, is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2023. A month before this event, the streaming video service Paramount+ will launch a documentary about the sensational rise and fall of dancers Fabrice Morvan and Robert Pilatus.
A large promotional campaign has begun in the German and American media in support of a new blockbuster about the backstage of show business at the turn of the 1980s-1990s, which indicates a serious bid for good box office receipts worldwide.
Judging by the first shots, the founder and producer of the group MILLI VANILLI is presented by the German film star Matthias Schweighöfer as a neurasthenic type with an enormously inflated ego. “I met Farian only once, and during the filming of the biopic I didn’t try to be absolutely like him. I prefer to play my characters the way I imagine them,” the actor said in a recent interview. Whether this approach can be considered successful is for the audience to judge.
At the same time, the MCI record label, owned by Farian, announced the imminent appearance on the shelves of music stores of an unprecedented re-release of the best hits of the group, which at one time received 3 American Music Awards and Grammy. Fans of nostalgia about the blessed 80s will be given the opportunity to purchase the release on the “good old” physical media. The choice is CD, 2LP (white or black vinyl) and even compact cassettes. Everything is as it should be at the end of the 20th century, when there was no public Internet and streaming music services. Выход долгожданного кинофильма "Girl You Know It's True" ("Девочка, ты знаешь, это правда") на большой экран, наделавшего много шума на последнем берлинском кинорынке, намечен на 21 декабря 2023 года. За месяц до этого события на стриминговом видеосервисе Paramount+ состоится запуск документального фильма о сенсационном взлёте и падении танцоров Фабриса Морвана и Роберта Пилатуса.
В немецких и американских СМИ началась большая промо-кампания в поддержку нового блокбастера о закулисье шоу-бизнеса на рубеже 1980-х-1990-х, что говорит о серьёзной заявке на солидные сборы в мировом прокате.
Судя по первым кадрам, основатель и продюсер группы MILLI VANILLI представлен звездой немецкого кино Маттиасом Швайгхёфером в виде неврастеничного типажа с непомерно раздутым эго. "Я встречался с Фарианом всего один раз, и во время съёмок фильма не стремился быть на него абсолютно похожим. Я предпочитаю играть своих героев так, как сам их себе представляю", - сказал актёр в одном из недавних интервью. Можно ли считать такой подход удачным, судить зрителям.
В то же время рекорд-лейбл MCI, принадлежащий Фариану, анонсировал скорое появление на прилавках музыкальных магазинов беспрецедентного по размаху переиздания лучших хитов группы, обласканной, в своё время, тремя наградами American Music Award и даже вожделенной Grammy. Любителям понастольгировать по благословенным 80-м будет предоставлена возможность приобрести релиз на "старых добрых" физических носителях. На выбор представлены CD, 2LP (белый или чёрный винил) и даже компакт-кассеты. Всё как и положено на исходе 20-го века, когда общедоступного интернета и стриминговых музыкальных сервисов не было и в помине. Релиз уже анонсирован на немецкой интернет-платформе для меломанов jpc.de (в России недоступен из-за санкций).
